About Me

The sea has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I created Sea Swim Torquay to share that joy with others and to help more people experience the calm, confidence and freedom that comes with swimming in open water.

My earliest memory of the sea goes back to Broadsands Beach, where I was just 5 years old, lying in shallow water with my brother. We wore armbands and wanted to explore deeper water but weren’t allowed because we couldn’t swim properly. I believe that was the beginning of my love for being in water.

My Journey
I’ve taken part in several long-distance swimming events. My first The Agatha Christie Mile, swimming from Beacon Cove to Meadfoot sparked a passion for adventure swims and from then I went on to complete The Scilly Challenge in 2024 (15km swimming over 2 days linking the islands) Other events include the Roadford 5km, Bantham Swoosh 5km, and the Hurly Burly 10km and Coniston End to End (5.25 miles).

I trained for these events with friends, swimming together along the coast of Torquay at beaches like Oddicombe, Meadfoot, and Ansteys.

Why Swim With Me?

I am a qualified Open Water Swim Coach that has many years experience of teaching outdoor education, keeping people safe as a priority, coaching & developing them through new experiences.

As part of my continued professional development I have completed several courses with the focus on the psychology of learning - I can ensure that the coaching you receive will reflect the knowledge I have acquired over the years.

I appreciate how wonderful swimming with like minded people feels - swimming in the sea (1-2km) with a local triathlon club was so refreshing after a day in the office.
In 2019, a friend convinced me to try cold-water dipping; I completed  the Polar Bear Challenge, and haven’t looked back. I will always support anyone who wants to give it a go as you really can’t appreciate how it makes you feel unless you’ve experienced it for yourself.

Beyond the qualifications, what really drives me is my passion. I love seeing people overcome fears, grow in confidence, and fall in love with the sea.

Every session is carefully risk-assessed, so you can feel safe and supported from your very first dip. No two swimmers are the same – so I take time to understand your goals, challenges, health needs and experience before we even get in the water.
